Super sunny Seville

This morning, we finally headed back to Ronda for Pete's final appointment.  After a considerable delay in the hospital, with me waiting with baited breath back in Dora, he returned with good news and we set off down the road.

We are now in Seville!!  We will be doing the tourist thing tomorrow before we inch closer to Portugal...

Today we were up bright and early, ready for a day of walking and riding around Seville.  We were really lucky to have blue skies all day and by midday it was touching 20 degrees C.

Powell enjoyed a good leg stretch with us on his bike bar; Seville has a very good network of cycle paths, so getting around on the bike was really easy and relatively safe.  After a couple of hours, we dropped Powell back at Dora for a snooze and headed back to the centre.

Seville is a vibrant and colourful city with lots going on.  We only saw a couple of the more touristy areas, which were really lovely, but we hardly scratched the surface in our few hours of exploring.  We saw enough to make us want to come back to see more though!  We decided to splurge and pay the €9.50 each to see the Alcazar; we never got round to going to the Alhambra in Granada, which it’s said to rival for its beauty, despite being smaller.  I have to admit, it is a pretty special place and well worth the money.  Photos don’t do it justice, but I’ve put some on anyway just to give you an idea.  We opted against going into the cathedral and the Giralda, but we’ll probably go next time as they’re supposed to be rather magnificent too!

After over staying our welcome at the Alcazar (we could have stayed much longer, but were conscious that Powell was waiting for us back at home), we headed off to find somewhere for lunch.  Trying to avoid the tourist trap areas (having been stung by them in Ronda!), we opted for a little side street cafe bar, offering menu del dia for €8.95 each including 3 tapas, bread, a drink and coffee....the food was delicious and there was enough to leave us well fed for the rest of the evening.  More than adequately fed and watered, we made our way back to Dora along the river to release the hound!

We’re now back in the van and deciding on our next move.  It’s looking likely to be another Via Verde at Valverde del Camino; although we’ve also been looking at some Columbus memorial attractions near Huelva, some of which sound mighty entertaining.  I shall do some research on aires and we’ll make a decision later.

When we leave here tomorrow morning, we’ll be without internet again for a few days, but as usual, will update as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, despite having some internet access now, it's not good enough for uploading photos so again, no pictures unfortunately!

UPDATE:

We stayed anther night in Seville in the end...we figured as we're already here and we'd woken to another beautiful day, it would be rude not to.  Tomorrow we head to Valverde del Camino. The internet is still to slow to upload any photos unfortunately.  I'm hoping it won't be too long until we get a decent connection as we have a backlog of uploading to do!
