After two
relaxed but very rainy nights in Wissant, we headed south to Montreuil. It used to be called Montreuil sur mer, but
the estuary dried up years ago so I guess that’s why they dropped it. Although judging from the amount of rain
we’ve had, I wouldn’t be surprised if it filled up again soon!
Montreuil
was fairly uninspiring; but admittedly the rain didn’t really help form a great
impression. There is a citadel, which
although impressive, has seen better days, but we took the opportunity when the
rain eventually stopped, to take Powell for a wander around the town walls.
Unfortunately,
when we got back to Dora, we discovered we have a leak; not exactly what you
would expect from a practically brand new motorhome...it would appear that the
lovely workmen at Brownhills didn’t correctly seal the crevice of a hole they
drilled in the roof to get the solar panel cable through. We now have to put a pot there every time it
rains. As soon as it’s dry enough, Pete
will do a proper job and make the hole waterproof. We hope the rain doesn't last too much
longer.
Not much
more to report from Montreuil.
We had a
chilled evening as always and woke the next morning to the sound of noisy
French people having a conference outside...at least the stopover was free...
